Fall Umpire Registration

Fairfax Little League is looking for umpires for the fall 2020 season.  Youth umpires are paid for the games they umpire (adult umpires are volunteers).  You can register as an umpire on the FXLL website.  See below for additional information.

New Umpires (umpires that have not umpired games or attended training in the past) - if you are 12 or older and interested in becoming an umpire, please register on the website.  Rules and Field Mechanics training for new umpires will be held on August 16 starting at 1:00pm at Thaiss field.  All new umpires MUST attend this training; if you attended the winter rules training in 2020, you do not have to attend the rules training portion (starting at 1:00pm), but MUST attend the field mechanics training starting at 3:00pm.  It will run until approximately 5:00pm.  Umpire equipment (shirts, hats, brushes, indicators, and bags) will be distributed following the training).

Returning Umpires - please register on the website.  Field mechanics training will be held on August 16 at Thaiss field starting at 3:00pm.  All umpires should attend the field mechanics training.  Umpire equipment (shirts, hats, brushes, indicators, and bags) will be distributed following the training.

Volunteer Adult Umpires - if you are interested in becoming a volunteer adult umpire (and we really need some volunteer adult umpires), please register and attend the rules/mechanics training on August 16.  This is different than the parent umpire training.

If you have any questions, please send an email to  .

FxLL League Manager Nomination Form

This form is being used to collect information from those individuals interested in managing for Fairfax Little League for the Fall 2020 Season. Each manager will additionally be required to submit a background check authorization form. We will not know exactly how many teams we will have at each level until we get closer to the season. Our intention is to have the manager ranked 1-X based on how many teams are anticipated so that every manager knows how many teams will be needed at each level in order for that manager to get a team.

Please keep in mind that we take a look at all aspects of each candidate being considered. This includes, but is not limited to, adherence to FxLL rules and regulations; coaching experience; input from other coaches, parents and board members; approach to instructing the players; communication skills with parents, players and other FxLL volunteers; observations over previous years; PPR inputs; and availability.

In addition, there is no guarantee that any former manager who had a team last Spring or Fall will be selected to manage a team this Fall.

We hope that we have enough teams for each of the qualified candidates to manage/coach a team, however if you do not get a team, we hope you still volunteer with Fairfax Little League as a coach, umpire or some other area.

Please keep in mind that every manager will be required to attend clinics and training provided by Fairfax Little League including rules and safety training in order to manage with FxLL.

Looking forward to the great season!!

Season Update

Little League parents,

We are very close to finalizing a detailed plan for Returning to Play.  We are gathering information from the CDC, state of Virginia, Little League International, and other youth sports leagues to produce the guidelines to safely return to play.

In the meantime:

  1. The Spring season has officially been cancelled.
  2. We plan to have a Fall season that might start a couple weeks earlier than a normal Fall Season.  Right now, we are planning on having drafts and team placements the first week of August.  We then expect to start Practices the 2nd week of August and Games around August 22nd, with the season running through late October.
  3. Shortly, we will circulate a google form that will ask those who registered for Spring 2020 to indicate their preference for their spring registration - transfer to Fall 2020, cancel and request a refund, cancel and donate funds to Fairfax Little League to cover the league's fixed costs for the spring and aid in fields and grounds improvements.  Those who wish to play in Fall 2020 will have the opportunity to make adjustments to their Spring 2020 registration.  We will also open registration to families who are not currently registered for the Spring 2020 season.  We will close Fall 2020 registration on 7/31/2020.
  4. Fall ball fees will remain the same as Spring 2020.  Typically Fall is a lower registration fee but this Fall we expect to play a few more games and we expect to have higher costs related to covid-19 cleaning procedures.
  5. Prior to registration, we will also circulate our Return To Play Guidelines that will be applicable while Virginia remains in a state of emergency.  Because the guidance from the state, the county and city, Little League International, and the CDC continues to evolve as more evidence and information is gathered about COVID-19, that guidance may change as we get closer to the season.  All players who sign up for the Fall 2020 season will receive updates to our Return to Play Guidelines.
  6. Either through our registration or as a separate document, all parents will have to sign a Communicable disease waiver in order to play in the Fall 2020 season.

Thank You,

Fairfax Little League Board of Directors
